Hello again! How about a week?
Today I bring you a new illustration that I wanted to do for a long time ago.
It’s about a superheroine made by hand with acrylic and, again, inspired by Blythe dolls and my daughter, of course!
I have tried to use the typical colors of comics to give it vibrant look as the purest Marvel style, although infantilizing it a bit.
I posted the illustration steps on Facebook and Instagram (or in fascicles, as I say) so you could see the evolution. I hope to have good feedback from you, because I would like to begin and make a collection of superheroines. It’s so fun!
This time I propose the two options you see in the photos: an asymmetrical dress with a side frill and frú-frú and a sports-style raglan sleeve t-shirt. In the dress I combined illustration with colorful stars. For the shirt, I’ve added a shield and I shadowed behind to give a 3D effect. If you’re afraid of orange or bright colors, try a pale tone background and even a mint green I hope you like them and will inspire you!
I read an article (sorry I do not remember in which magazine) about the change of children’s society from the 80s to today. The toy industry does not miss those details! The psychologist of the article in question reminded us how in our childhood the dolls were marked by the professions. They were cooks, teachers and doctors, coinciding with the labor revolution of the mothers of that time. The little ones wanted to imitate our mothers, they were the mirror in which we looked at ourselves. Thirty years later there is a wide catalog of superheroines aimed at an increasingly growing demand. I see my daughter very flit around the house with his red cape!
My question is: do our daughters see us as superheroines? Or is it because of the media blitz that we have stopped being her mirror? I invite you to leave your opinions and thoughts at the end of this post.
Well … nothing to add! Run to the shop for your superheroine!
Kisses to everyone. See you next week!
