As I mentioned in social networks, Amaia Cubo Design Studio in collaboration with Círculó Textil attended the International Children’s Fashion Fair to carry out a joint advertising campaign. The event was once again exhibited in the Pabellón de Cristal de la Casa de Campo, in Madrid. A lack of big brands, startups of Spanish kidswear took the 86th edition of FIMI.
FIMI has dusted off and launched the #movimientofimi. A large number of new firms, many of them ecological and sustainable lines, showed their new creations. Opinions have been varied, but generally heard the complaint of many exhibitors to the lack of buyers.
For some years, this contest dates coincide with the international Pitti Bimbo, in Florence. Forcing many brands to choose to exhibit at the Fortezza da Basso in the Italian city. That’s where you could see firms like Agatha Ruíz de la Prada, Nanos or Fina Ejerique. Assiduous before to the appointment of FIMI.
I have gone many times to this children’s fashion fair. First in Valencia and then in Madrid. After the crisis, the number of visitors and exhibitors visibly decreased. The exhibition halls were wider for lack of stands, which made evident the lack of influx of buyers. How difficult it was to fill those corridors! Given this fact and the fierce price war, many brands reacted by putting their sights on international customers. Even drastic changes were noted in the designs of many firms to grab the attention of Arab and Russian buyers. They began to sound fairs such as the Bubble in London or the CPM in Moscow, where now many great children’s fashion brands shows.
In conclusion: we have in Spain a style and a design that deserves to cross borders and occupy a good podium in the world of fashion. Either through the sustainable fashion of the new startups, or with the luxury and volumes of the everlasting flags of our country.
